The Department of Materials Science and Engineering (DMSE) seeks candidates for tenure track faculty positions to begin July 2020 or on a mutually agreed date thereafter. Faculty duties include teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels, research, and supervision of student research. DMSE has a special interest in the fields of
computation, simulation and theory of materials, especially at the meso-scale. However, exceptional candidates in any broader area of materials science and engineering will be considered as well. We seek candidates with a broad understanding of multiple sub-disciplines of materials science and engineering and how they correlate. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering or a related field by the start date of employment.
MIT has recently introduced the Schwarzman College of Computing. Successful candidates should expect that their research will intersect with the new College's mission, including possible research and teaching intersections in computation, data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

one page of graphics, a statement of teaching interests not to exceed one page, and a statement of experience in collaborative materials research facilities and leadership
not to exceed one page. Each candidate should include the names and contact information of three candidates for reference letters. Recommendation letters will be requested after initial screening of an application package and must be submitted
